Taking surveys in wet environments can often be difficult if you do not have the right tools. Atlaua’s new Cave Surveying Notebook aims to meet the needs of all caving enthusiasts who need to collect data and make graphical surveys of new caves.
The notebook is made up of 30 sheets, on the left page you will always find a table containing the main items useful for the survey of a new cavity with a large space for free notes at the bottom of the page. On the right, instead, there is a sheet of graph paper, so that the speleologist can bring back as precisely as possible a first sketch of the surrounding environment.
The cover is made of semi-rigid polypropylene so as to facilitate a secure support for writing even in an uncomfortable position, the sheets are printed in waterproof and ultra-resistant stone paper, on which you can write using any type of pencil both on a dry page and wet. Spiral binding.
- Thanks to the neoprene the travel diary floats without difficulty for several hours, until the sheets are completely wet.
- It is advisable to always use a pencil if you plan to put the travel diary in the water. Pens write without problems on the paper but we do not guarantee the sealing of the ink once the pages get wet.
- Any pencil can write on the paper, whether it is dry, wet or underwater.
- Once removed from the water the notebook will tend to stiffen during drying. You can open it and split the pages so it will dry quicker. Drying times depend on the environment you leave the notebook. It usually goes back to its original form in 24-48h.
